What is a linkwheel: Linkwheel 101
What is a linkwheel, the definition of a link wheel is a really powerful SEO approach which can be used by anyone to increase the rankings of their sites.
In essence, a link wheel utilizes the power of highly ranked Web 2.0 sites to create targeted backlinks back to your sites. This works because a number of Web 2.0 properties including Hubpages, Squidoo, WordPress, and others let you distribute your own content on these sites and permit you to include your own backlinks to this particular content as well.
Google loves these websites and often times your posted content can rank very well by themselves. Acquiring links to your web site from 5-10 of these varieties of sites is quite powerful, and forms the foundation of the link wheel strategy. Check out one of the examples of a link wheel.
What is a linkwheel? – Opened Or Closed?
With this linkwheel situation, every Web 2.0 property backlinks to your main site at the center, in addition to one other Web 2.0 site in the wheel producing a sealed loop. This way, the link juice is passed to both equally your primary website every web 2.0 property improving the power of each. I have heard that these examples of a link wheel configuration is shabby
because it simply leaves an obvious footprint to Google. In other terms Google is watching you! I would ask this question: What Is a linkwheel when it’s opened? Ah ha .. good question.
What is a link wheel look like when it’s opened? In the following link wheel, you will see that the wheel doesn’t close. This makes that footprint a little more non-obvious, while staying effective. The more properties you can add to your linkwheel, the more creative you can be with your linking structure. For instance.. Web 2.0 A-C, B-D, E-B. You can definitely get creative here!
Enhancing the Linkwheel
So now we know “What Is A Linkwheel” Let’s learn how we can enhance our linkwheel and make it more powerful! What you can do is… Almost every Web. 2.0 websites also have their very own RSS Feeds. Find out what they are and then submit the RSS feeds to RSS aggregators such as Feedage, Feedagg, and Zimbio. This may get your content on the Web 2.0 websites index faster, and also enhance their linking power!
You can also add more article directories like EzineArticles, and GoArticles. I also like to add press release sites as well!
